A car collided with a Morgan County ambulance at North Broadway and New Circle Road on Monday evening, knocking the ambulance on its side and blocking the intersection for more than an hour and a half.
The ambulance was taking a patient to St. Joseph Hospital. The car that struck the ambulance was on the inner loop of New Circle; its driver might have failed to yield, police Lt. Chris VanBrackel said. Police were called at about 8:20 p.m.
The patient who was in the ambulance was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital and was in critical but stable condition, VanBrackel said. A child riding in the car and an emergency medical technician who was riding in the back of the ambulance were also taken to UK with lesser injuries.
