Mark Reese has gotten way too busy in his retirement.
So after two seasons as Henry Clay's softball coach, Reese told his players on Tuesday night, after their loss in the district semifinals, that he is stepping down.
The former longtime coach at Scott County retired and moved to Estill County before he became Henry Clay's coach.
This past August he also took a new educational extension position at Eastern Kentucky University that requires extensive travel regionally.
Never miss a local story.
"With this job, the farm and sheep I raise, two new grandsons, and my bird dogs, the travel ... got to be too much," Reese said in an e-mail.
The coach, who went 33-27 in his two seasons with the Devils, said he feels good about his time there.
"I think I helped instill a work ethic in the Henry Clay program which had been missing and we had several successes including beating Scott County for the first time ever last year," he said.
