A Lexington man who had a heart attack while driving and later died caused a wreck that left a woman with minor injuries Monday night.
The man, Ted Estes, 69, was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky at 7:58 p.m., according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office. Estes died as a result of the heart attack and sustained only minor injuries from the accident, the coroner said.
Lexington police and the coroner's office said Estes had been driving a Cadillac Deville at Tates Creek and Man o' War Boulevard at 6:41 p.m. when he went through a red light and turned into the path of a GMC Jimmy driven by Stephanie Carroll, 18, of Lexington.
Carroll had been wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, police said.
