About 60 third-grade students from Ashland Elementary School visited Berries on Bryan Station for an Earth Day field trip Friday.
The farm, which is hosting an open house 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, keeps about 20 free-range chickens for egg production. The students fed chickens and were allowed to hold them.
Students visited the greenhouse, where a variety of lettuce and other greens are grown for the community supported agriculture members at Windy Corner Market down the street, and had a chance to sit in the driver's seat of a tractor and have their photo taken.
Students toured the strawberry patches after sampling frozen strawberries from last year's crop. Five berry varieties are grown on the farm.
