One request was received last week at Lex-Care. It was submitted by Sabina Massey, a case manager at Bryan Station Youth Center, on behalf of a married couple who need $750 to pay the deposit and first month's rent on a house.
The couple have four children; two in college, one in high school and one in middle school. They had a house and were carrying a mortgage. They had made some improvements to the property but fell behind on their payments and had to declare bankruptcy.
Through their lawyer they reached an agreement to rent the house until all payments in arrears are paid and their credit is restored. At that time they hope to be able to own the property again.
The husband is employed as a bus driver during the school year and will return to that job in August. He works during the summer in a temporary job. The wife works full-time as a certified medical assistant.
Never miss a local story.
