Friday is the deadline for entering floats and other units in Lexington's Fourth of July Parade.
The parade, which will begin at 2 p.m. July 4, is a highlight of the city's daylong festival that includes the Bluegrass 10,000, a street fair and a 10 p.m. fireworks display.
Parade entries can range from musical or marching groups to equestrian entries and horse-drawn wagons. Neighborhoods are urged to enter creative units filled with music and color.
Prizes will be awarded for Most Creative Float, Best Non-Float, Best "Green" Entry and Best Neighborhood Entry.
Never miss a local story.
Entrants will line up along Midland Avenue and travel down Main Street to Broadway.
