Kentucky Utilities is making the first move as part of a $19 million project to widen Leestown Road from New Circle Road to Masterson Station Park.
The utility company is one of several in Central Kentucky doing advance work for the project, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Natasha Lacy said.
Lacy said road construction would begin after the phone lines, water pipes, gas lines and other utilities have been relocated.
"We're dependent on all those pipes and lines to move before we start," Lacy said.
Never miss a local story.
She said the project could go out for bids by the end of the year. "However, this is dependent on the utility companies adequately relocating enough of their facilities for us to begin construction work," she said.
