Homeowners and construction workers cleaned up the debris at a suburban Lexington home Tuesday afternoon hours after a car crashed into the dining room.
No one was injured when the car crashed into the Strawberry Lane home just before 4 a.m., police said, leaving a gaping hole in a front wall that exposed the dining room and basement.
Speed is thought to be a factor in the wreck, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.
The driver, who was not identified, apparently was heading south on Teakwood Court when he hit two parked vehicles and lost control of his own vehicle. It crossed Strawberry Lane, jumped the curb and crashed into the house.
The driver had not been charged Tuesday, Roberts said. Police typically do not charge drivers in wrecks an officer did not witness, unless there are extenuating circumstances such as intoxication.
