A man who was hit by a car Thursday afternoon while trying to cross a busy road on foot died from his injuries, according to a news release from the Fayette County Coroner's office.
David L. Steinforth Jr., 49, of Lexington, was pronounced dead Friday from traumatic brain injury and multiple blunt-force trauma, the release said.
Steinforth was attempting to cross the inner loop of New Circle Road near Bryan Avenue Thursday just before 5 p.m. when he was struck by a Chevrolet Metro. Police said the driver of the Metro did not see Steinforth because traffic was heavy at the time.
Steinforth was rushed to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, but his "injury was unsurvivable," the coroner's release said. He was pronounced brain dead about 6:34 p.m. Friday.
