A group of students from the University of Kentucky are trying to raise awareness for hunger through their art. Students in this semester's "Pathways To Creativity" class, part of UK's required core curriculum, worked together to design and paint murals with the theme of hunger.
Under the direction of UK School of Art faculty members Beth Ettensohn, Ann Christianson, aand Marty Henton, the students spent Wednesday afternoon hanging their work around the Centrepointe block in downtown Lexington.
About 120 students from UK are attempting to raise awareness of world hunger through artwork. In collaborative groups, the students have designed and painted murals with the theme of hunger awareness as part of the UK Core "Pathways to Creativity" class.
The students are also conducting a food drive in the Fine Arts Building at UK from Dec. 7-14 for God's Pantry. Cans of fruits, meat, hearty soups and vegetables or boxes of pasta and rice are a high priority.
