Below-freezing temperatures contributed to the death of a Lexington man who was found outside in his pajamas early Wednesday.
Arthur C. Wilson, 87, was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital, where he died from hypothermia, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office. The death was ruled accidental.
Salt truck workers de-icing Roxburg Drive found Wilson on the street, near Stonewall Elementary School, about 5 a.m.
Police found a home on a nearby street with an open front door. A family member inside told officers Wilson suffered from Parkinson's disease and dementia, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

The family member did not know that Wilson had gone outside, and police do not know how long he was out there, Roberts said. Temperatures were in the high 20s.
