The committee that will recommend Lexington’s next police chief to Mayor Jim Gray interviewed all four candidates for the job Tuesday. The recommendation could come as early as next Monday, city spokeswoman Susan Straub said.
Last week, the city announced that Lexington assistant police chiefs Mark Barnard and Lawrence Weathers both applied for the job. The other two candidates are Dwayne Depp of Frankfort and Terri Wilfong of Greenville, S.C. The position became available Dec. 2 after Gray announced current police Chief Ronnie Bastin was replacing Clay Mason as public safety commissioner.
