Two people were thrown out of a vehicle and a third also was injured in a crash on New Circle Road on Saturday afternoon, but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Lexington police Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said the crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. when one vehicle apparently ran a red light and hit another one at the intersection of New Circle and Young Drive.
After the crash, a sweatshirt and white tennis shoe lay near a small pool of blood in the middle of New Circle Road, alongside a Ford F-150 pickup truck that sat on the shoulder of the road, facing the wrong direction. A black passenger car was in a ditch nearby.
The inner loop of New Circle was shut down at Liberty Road for about an hour while the crash was cleaned up.
