Recent vandalism to the fountains at Thoroughbred Park at Main Street and Midland Avenue will cost Lexington $4,000, city spokeswoman Susan Straub said.
Someone broke off 57 sprinkler heads at the park, Straub said. Some of the fountains aren't running, and others are not operating at full power.
Because of this, people should not allow children to wade in the fountain water there, and people shouldn't be in the water there anyway, Straub said.
Police don't think there is a connection between that vandalism and the recent vandalism at the John Hunt Morgan statue at the old courthouse on Main Street, Straub said.
