A man died Sunday after a bulldozer he was operating flipped into the Kentucky River in Frankfort.
Ren Heard, 61, was using a bulldozer with a front-end loader to dig a water line at his Lake Tree Farm on Steele Branch Road when the bulldozer flipped into the river at about 5:30 p.m., said Franklin County Coroner William Harrod.
Harrod said some boaters called for help when they saw parts of the machinery sticking out of the water.
Heard, who operated a nursery at the farm, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrod said the cause of death is not yet known; an autopsy was performed Monday.
Arrangements are pending at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
