A Frankfort man faces multiple child pornography charges and drug violations as a result of an undercover Kentucky State Police investigation.
Russell A. Burchett, 37, was arrested Wednesday after the investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children program, according to state police at the Frankfort post.
Burchett is charged with 20 counts of possession and five counts of distributing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. He also is charged with cultivating and possessing marijuana, and possessing drug paraphernalia, troopers said in a news release.
After discovering that Burchett was sharing images of child porn online, the state police's Electronic Crime Branch began investigating, authorities said.
State police obtained a search warrant for Burchett's home Wednesday evening, seizing computer equipment. The equipment was taken to the state police forensic laboratory for examination.
During the search, investigators also discovered what they described as a "sophisticated indoor marijuana-growing operation," police said. Burchett is charged with growing five or more marijuana plants.
An investigation is continuing.
