Retiring Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce director Nancy Stone was honored at a reception Feb. 4 at Connemara Golf Course. Stone had led the chamber since 2000. Amy Cloud, who previously was part-time director of the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce, will succeed Stone.
Rotary Club to hold annual pancake breakfast
The Nicholasville Rotary Club's annual pancake breakfast will be 7 to 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19 at Nicholasville Christian Church, 104 South Second Street. An adult plate is $3 and a child's plate is $1. Proceeds from the breakfast have provided college scholarship assistance to hundreds of Jessamine County high school students who have exemplified "service above self."
Youth Sports Hall of Fame adds nine members

Nine new members were inducted into the Jessamine County Youth Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony at Nicholasville Elementary School gymnasium on Feb. 5. Sherman Dean, J.R. Banks, R.J. Corman, Dan Young Shearer, Monte Carpenter, Ronnie Crowe, Andy Williams, Tommy Orme and Jay Buffin were honored for their volunteerism and dedication to youth sports.
Free radon kits from health department
The Jessamine County Health Department is offering free short-term radon test kits to county residents who would like to test their house for radon, the naturally occurring, invisible, odorless, tasteless gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States among smokers and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
