A man who died Saturday night while trying to swim across the Kentucky River in Jessamine County has been identified as Vance Johnson, 29, of Lexington.
Jessamine Coroner Michael Hughes said Monday that Johnson was swimming with friends and tried to cross the river about 9:30 p.m. When he couldn't make it, his friends tried to help but were unable to save him.
His body was found about two hours later, about 11:30 p.m.
Toxicology results won't be available for a while, Hughes said.
