Investigators think an electrical problem was to blame for a fire that tore through an appraisal business in Nicholasville on Friday.
The fire began about 5 a.m. at Kentucky Appraisal Team Services, on the second floor of a building on North Main Street that also houses the Jessamine County property valuation administrator's office and a law firm.
No one was injured. The fire was reported by a passing state police trooper who saw the smoke, Nicholasville Fire Chief Charles Brumfield said.
The fire caused heavy damage to the appraisal business. The offices on the first floor sustained minor smoke and water damage, Brumfield said.
"The first floor will likely be inhabitable pretty quick," he said.
The building, at 116 North Main, is owned by the county.
