A Lexington man was killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 27 in Jessamine County, the Fayette County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.
James F. Stephens, 60, was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington. He died of blunt-force trauma, the coroner's office said.
Stephens was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup that was struck from the side by a white van, Nicholasville Maj. Brian Slone said.
The driver of the van, who has not been identified, admitted to police that he ran a red light at U.S. 27 and Etter Drive. Stephens was trying to turn left from Etter onto southbound U.S. 27.
Never miss a local story.
Slone did not know whether police would charge the van driver, who was treated for minor injuries.
The crash happened about 2 p.m. Monday.
