A nearly six-hour standoff with a Wilmore man ended early Wednesday when he was arrested on charges of wanton endangerment, Jessamine County Chief Deputy Allen Peel said.
Dave "Marty" Baker, 42, was arrested after he refused to surrender to deputies who went to check on Baker after he had threatened suicide, Peel said. Baker had indicated Tuesday night via texts to his girlfriend that he intended to harm himself, and the girlfriend had relayed that to 911.
When deputies Ryan Rohrback and Richard Prather arrived at Baker's mobile home in the 1700 block of Handy's Bend Road, Baker allegedly fired a rifle in their direction, Peel said.
Baker then remained inside the trailer until early Wednesday morning, when he stepped outside the back door, Peel said. That's when officers confronted him and arrested him.
Never miss a local story.
Baker remained in the Jessamine County jail Wednesday in lieu of bonds totaling $50,244. He also was served with a Fayette County arrest warrant charging him with failure to appear in court.
