Lexington police and firefighters were searching the Kentucky River at Valley View on Monday for evidence after receiving a tip, a police official said.
Sgt. Ann Welch said police received a call Saturday that there might be "evidence of a possible crime in or around the river."
Several detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Unit were at the river, near the Valley View Ferry. As of 4 p.m., nothing had been found, she said.
Welch was did not say what detectives were looking for, but she said the department investigates calls that suggest a crime occurred.
