A Berea man died after falling while hunting in Laurel County on Tuesday.
Stanley Wayne Pearson, 69, had been squirrel hunting with a friend Tuesday morning on a tract of land off Martin Road, about 11 miles south of London, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Department.
Pearson and his friend split up, and Pearson was reported missing after he did not come out of the woods.
The sheriff's department said they think Pearson shot a squirrel, then slipped and fell down a bank while trying to retrieve it. He apparently died of injuries sustained in the fall, the sheriff's office said.
Never miss a local story.
A London Laurel Rescue Squad dog found Pearson's body at 6:41 p.m. Tuesday during a search that was conducted with the help of the Laurel County Department of Public Safety and Laurel County Emergency Management.
