Richmond police continue to investigate a shooting Tuesday that left one man dead, a second man with a gunshot wound to the head and a woman with a gunshot wound to the foot, Chief Larry Brock said Wednesday in a news release.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, shots were reported in the 400 block of Jason Drive, on Richmond's south side. Officers arrived within minutes and discovered two men at the apartment with gunshot wounds.
Steve Thomas Martin, 57, was dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, Brock said.
The other man, Joshua Brown, 22, suffered from at least one gunshot wound to the head and was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington.
Officers found a 21-year-old woman a short distance away. She had been shot in the foot and fled. She was Martin's daughter and has a child with Brown, police said. The woman was taken to UK Hospital.
Brown apparently shot Martin, then shot the woman, then shot himself, Brock said. Investigators were trying to establish the motive for the shooting.
A handgun thought to have been used in the shooting was recovered from the apartment.
There is no indication that anyone else was involved in the shooting, Brock said.
