RICHMOND — A Madison County inmate who escaped Thursday from the Madison County Hall of Justice was caught Friday morning in Richmond, according to the sheriff's office.
Channing Roberts, who turned 18 on Thursday, was caught on Turpin Drive, said Maj. Teri Begley of the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Roberts was being led into the Hall of Justice on Main Street on Thursday when he escaped. He is now charged with second-degree escape, Begley said.
Police are still looking for Tony Gay, who escaped shortly after 4 p.m. when he was leaving the Madison County Courthouse. Like Roberts, he had been handcuffed but not shackled.
Gay is described as a black male who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds.
