A Richmond man is dead and two people were injured in a head-on crash on State Highway 1295 in Madison County.
Blunt-force trauma instantly killed Abraham Ramirez, 21, Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said.
Ramirez was driving a 1995 Lexus toward Richmond when he collided with a pickup truck that was headed toward Lancaster, Cornelison said.
It wasn't immediately clear who was at fault or what caused the accident. State police are investigating, Cornelison said. The two people who were injured were in the pickup truck.
It took crews more than an hour to extract Ramirez from the wreckage. He did not appear to have been wearing a seatbelt.
Cornelison said it was one of the worst car crashes he has ever seen.
"It was a bad accident, and I've worked a bunch," he said.
