Former Madison County School Superintendent Glenn Marshall died Monday, apparently of a self-inflected gunshot wound.
Marshall's death occurred shortly after 8 a.m., according to the Richmond Register newspaper.
Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison confirmed Mashall's death Monday afternoon. Cornelison said no foul play is suspected.
Marshall was a graduate of Madison Central High School and a veteran of the county school system. Glenn Marshall Elementary School in Richmond is named after him.
He had continued to work as an assistant superintendent for finance after retiring as superintendent. Marshall also served as acting superintendent.
