A Richmond man was charged with wanton endangerment after a 4-year-old child in his care was found wandering a street alone, police said.
Marshall B. Johnson, 36, was arrested Wednesday on the charge, Richmond police said.
At 10:31 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an Exxon station on South Keeneland Drive to investigate a report that a child was wandering the road alone. A concerned citizen escorted the child to safety and contacted police.
Officers identified the residence where the child was supposed to be staying, but were unable to locate anyone. Police then took custody of the child and contacted state social services for assistance.
