An Estill County man was hit and killed by a car while apparently walking in the middle of the road in Madison County early Saturday.
Donnie Isaacs, 61, of Irvine, was pronounced dead from blunt-force trauma to the head and chest, Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said.
Isaacs was walking in the 3000 block of KY 52 East, a two-lane road that connects Richmond and Irvine, just before 3 a.m. when he was hit by the driver's side of the car, which indicated he was walking near the center yellow line, Cornelison said.
The driver and passenger in the car that hit him were not injured. They stayed at the scene and told Madison County sheriff's deputies the driver didn't see Isaacs in time to avoid him.
Investigators think Isaacs was walking from Madison County to his home in Irvine, but they didn't know where he had been before the wreck. Anyone with information is asked to call the Madison County coroner or sheriff's office.
