A Berea man has been charged with second-degree assault in the weekend shooting of another man, Kentucky State Police said Tuesday.
Bobby Wills, 47, is accused of shooting Andrew Olson, 35, early Saturday morning on Wolf Gap Road in Madison County, state police said in a news release.
Olson, who was shot in the shoulder and back, was initially treated at the St. Joseph Berea emergency room and later went to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington, said Trooper Paul Blanton, public affairs officer for the Richmond post. Olson has been released from UK Hospital, Blanton said.
Wills was taken to the Madison County Detention Center in Richmond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 5 in Madison District Court, Blanton said. At that time, a judge will hear evidence to determine whether there is probable cause to send the case to grand jury for possible indictment.
