A Berea man was charged Thursday with the alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl, Richmond police said.
Scott Willis, 44, also was charged with second-degree wanton endangerment, police said Friday in a news release.
In September, Richmond police joined an investigation by the Department for Community Based Services. The investigation was initiated by complaints made to that agency regarding the girl's welfare.
Investigators observed teeth marks and bruising on the child's neck that was determined to have been caused by Willis, police said in the news release. The investigation further revealed that several witnesses had observed Willis touching the child inappropriately on numerous occasions.
Police issued an arrest warrant in September for Willis, and on Thursday, he was found at Wal-Mart and was arrested. He was being in the Madison County jail, where he remained Friday afternoon.
