A public meeting about fracking and its consequences will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Russel Acton Folk Center, 212 West Jefferson Street, Berea.
Bill Hughes of Wetzel County, W.Va., will speak on what fracking is, what the dangers are and how fracking has changed communities in West Virginia and elsewhere.
Tom FitzGerald, attorney for the Kentucky Resources Council, will speak about what property owners should know about signing leases and the regulation of oil and gas in Kentucky.
There will be opportunities for the public to ask questions.
Out-of-state companies have been buying or attempting to buy rights to properties in Eastern and Central Kentucky for the purposes of hydraulic fracturing, known widely as fracking.
