A fatal accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 75, shutting down northbound traffic for a number of hours.
Lexington police and fire crews, along with Kentucky State Police, responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after it occurred near mile marker 99 near the Fayette County-Madison County line.
According to initial reports, a northbound vehicle went out of control and off the highway. One person was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
