The body of an unidentified man was found in a Madison County creek Wednesday night, Kentucky State Police said.
Just before 7:30 p.m., state police in Richmond received a report about a body in Silver Creek near Curtis Pike and below Wilgreen Lake, a reservoir southwest of Richmond.
The Madison County Rescue Squad recovered the body. The cause of death was under investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled Friday at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort, said trooper Robert Purdy, public affairs officer for the Richmond post.
"We've got a pretty good idea who we think it is, but we want to make sure that's who it is," Purdy said. "We've been able to pare it to some missing persons cases out of Madison County, and I think we've figured out which one it is."

The body was the second found in a creek this week.
The body of Amelia A. Jones, 41, of Lexington was found Monday night in Crooked Creek in Rockcastle County. An autopsy confirmed drowning as the cause of death.
Jones was last seen Saturday in Richmond, police said. Rockcastle County Deputy Coroner Bill Dowell said Thursday that officials still aren't sure why Jones traveled to Rockcastle County from Lexington or how she ended up in the creek.
The Madison County investigation is being conducted by trooper Jesse Armstrong.
