A Georgetown man riding in an SUV driven by his sister was killed in a traffic accident on Stamping Ground Road, Scott County officials said Sunday.
Patricia Burton of Stamping Ground was driving a Chevy Trailblazer north on Stamping Ground Road, also known as Ky. 229, about 5 p.m. Saturday when she apparently lost control of her vehicle, said Deputy Jeremy Johnson of the Scott County Sheriff's Department. The SUV crossed into the southbound lane and hit a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Robert Baldwin, who tried to avoid the collision, Johnson said.
Paul Burton, 23, was pronounced dead at Georgetown Hospital. Patricia Burton, Baldwin and two children in Baldwin's truck were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where they were expected to recover, Johnson said.
Everyone was wearing seat belts.
"It was raining and weather is believed to be a factor," Johnson said.
