A Georgetown man was killed and two others were taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 25 in Scott County Saturday afternoon.
Michael Sifford, 25, was driving a red Nissan Sentra northbound on U.S. 25 near Coleman Lane shortly after 4 p.m. when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and ran into a white Dodge pickup truck traveling southbound on U.S. 25, police said.
Sifford, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency crews took him to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, Everett Glenn Rogers, 43, and a passenger, Everette Petrey, 29, both of Georgetown, were also taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for injuries. They appeared to be in stable condition, Scott County sheriff's deputies said Saturday.
Parts of U.S. 25 were closed for almost an hour on Saturday while emergency crews cleaned up the accident site.
