Scott County jail inmates have been moved to other jails in the region because the jail does not have hot water, operations manager Michael Humphrey said.
About 60 inmates were taken to jails in Grant, Franklin Shelby and Jessamine counties. New inmates probably will be sent to Woodford County until a boiler is fixed, Humphrey said.
The boiler stopped working Sunday, he said. There were about 14 state inmates on community service and county trustees at the jail.
Humphrey said jail officials hope the boiler is fixed by Friday or Saturday, but it could take longer if the boiler needs to be replaced.
