One man was shot in the arm Sunday and the alleged suspect then shot himself in the head, Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton said.
The suspect with the self-inflicted wound was alive about 6:30 p.m., Hampton said. He wasn't sure which hospital or hospitals treated the two men.
The shooting happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of Bond Pike near Stamping Ground in Scott County.
The victim, who was in his early 40s, had "at least one gunshot wound to the arm," Hampton said. The weapon apparently was a handgun.
A person who witnessed the shooting told police that the suspect, who is in his 50s, was not going to come out of the home where the shooting happened.
"We assembled a team, made entry into the home and found him in a bedroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," Hampton said.
He didn't know what led to the shooting. The suspect rented a space or room from the victim, Hampton said.
Kentucky State Police, and Stamping Ground and Georgetown police assisted in the case.
