A 15-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after being struck twice by gunfire.
The shooting happened on Charles Avenue, said Lt. Andrew Daugherty of Lexington police. Daugherty said the juvenile was walking down the road when he was hit by gunfire coming from more than one vehicle. The boy said the occupants of the vehicles were shooting at each other, Daugherty said.
After the shooting, the juvenile walked to his grandfather’s house, which was in the vicinity of the crime. Daugherty said the boy was shot in his hand and another bullet grazed his left leg. The boy was then taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. The police were called to the hospital after 3 a.m.
“The victim told officers that people in multiple cars were shooting at each other at the time of the incident; however, police are attempting to verify that account,” said public information officer Brenna Angel in a news release. “There were no reports of shots fired and there are no suspect descriptions at this time.”

Daugherty said the juvenile is expected to be OK. There were no suspects as of Sunday morning.
