A wanted fugitive is accused of attempting to run over police officers in his car Wednesday night before he was shot by a Kentucky State Police trooper.
Jerry Collett, 61, of Coldrion was pulled over on a traffic stop in McCreary County when troopers discovered that he was wanted on several felony warrants, according to state police.
Officers asked Collett to step out of his vehicle, but he drove off, police said. About 6 miles later, he lost control of his car, according to state police.
As the officers got out of their vehicles to arrest him, Collett tried to run them over with his vehicle and struck a patrol car, according to state police.
