The death of a woman found in a Leslie Drive driveway in Lexington is being treated as a possible homicide, the Fayette County coroner told WKYT, bringing to five the number of slayings since Feb. 4.
Leslie Drive is between Paris Pike and Russell Cave Road.
If the woman was slain, she will be the city’s sixth homicide since the start of the year. Lexington didn’t have it’s sixth homicide last year, a record-setting year for murders, until May. The city recorded two in January and two in February in 2017. This year, there was one homicide in January and the rest occurred in February.
Coroner Gary Ginn told WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner that he does not think the woman froze to death as police initially considered. An autopsy will be performed.
