Several Lexington residents were evacuated Monday after a small fire was found inside a wall in an apartment complex.
Battalion Chief Jeff Nantz said firefighters received a call about 1:30 p.m. after smoke was seen coming from the attic of the complex in the 1300 block of Nancy Hanks Road, near Red Mile Road.
The smoke was from a small fire inside the wall of one apartment, Nantz said. He said he was unsure how the fire started, but there was a heating and ventilation company working in the apartment at the time of the fire.
Investigators were attempting to determine the cause.

The unit suffered some water damage. Firefighters had to tear out drywall and cut a hole in the attic to get to the fire and release some of the smoke.
Firefighters evacuated eight apartments. No one was injured.
Occupants were allowed back into all but the damaged apartment. Nantz didn't know how many people lived in the units.
