Lexington police were investigating a shooting and robbery Monday afternoon that they say left two people, including one of the robbers, with gunshot wounds.
Police have charged two people and are trying to identify a third person thought to have been involved, according to a news release.
Police said the incident began when the robbers knocked on the door of a home on the 3400 block of Windyknoll Drive, which is south of Man o' War Boule vard near Armstrong Mill Road.
Three occupants of the house let the men in, and the men tried to rob the occupants, said Lt. Joe Anderson.
One of the intruders, later identified as Jonathan James, 18, shot one of the men in the house and ran away, police said. James also sustained a gunshot wound, police later learned. A second intruder, identified as Ravonne Brown, 18, was bum-rushed and tied up by the other men in the house, police said. The occupants called police at 1:24 p.m. to report the shooting and to say they had detained a suspect.
Soon after, James showed up at the police department's East Sector office with a gunshot wound. He was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with a wound that was not considered life-threatening, Anderson said.
He and Brown, who was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center, each face a first-degree robbery charge.
The injured occupant of the home was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the lower back. The extent of his injuries was unknown.
Anderson said the robbery was not random. All the men were acquaintances, and a resident of the house was charged with narcotics-related offenses, according to the news release.
