Five people were taken to the hospital Tuesday night after a tractor-trailer loaded with 63 cattle collided with a pickup truck in Danville.
The collision occurred at the intersection of the South Danville Bypass and Southtown Drive, according to a news release from Danville police.
The westbound lanes of the bypass were closed for about four hours as crews loaded uninjured cattle into another trailer, police said.
The truck driver, Harry L. Dundee, 46, of Stanwood, Iowa, was uninjured, police said.
Five adults and children in the pickup were taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for injuries. Some injuries were serious, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck was Brent Ellis, 46, of Hustonville, police said. Also in the car were Lucian Ellis, 8, Zack Gundy, 13, Sarah Gundy, 36, and Alexis Hardy, 18, all of Hustonville.
An investigation continues.
