NICHOLASVILLE — Nicholasville police have arrested and charged two men in Wednesday's armed robbery of a Circle K convenience store.
Eric Lee Westerman, 19, was arrested Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop just a few blocks from the store at Edgewood Drive and U.S. 27. It had been robbed around 1 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Westerman was charged with first-degree robbery.
On Thursday, police said they arrested Joshua Sean Lewis, 19, and charged him with complicity to first-degree robbery.
Detectives alleged that Lewis drove Westerman to the store, waited outside while Westerman robbed the store, then drove Westerman back to the Nicholasville house where Lewis lives.
Police recovered evidence of the robbery from the Lewis house. Police spokesman Scott Harvey said Westerman had been staying with Lewis.
Westerman also was picked up on a warrant for unauthorized leave from the Marine Corps, police said. Both men were lodged in the Jessamine County jail.
