Richmond police arrested a suspect and charged him in connection with the Wednesday morning armed robbery of a convenience store.
Billie A. Masters, 45, of Richmond is accused of robbing the Dairy Mart on Commercial Drive, police said.
The robbery was reported at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, after a man wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and sunglasses came into the store, flashed a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk. The employee surrendered an unspecified amount of cash and the robber ran away.
About 15 minutes before the robbery, police had been dispatched to the Redi-Mart on nearby Irvine Road to investigate a suspicious vehicle described as a light-colored Mercedes-Benz.

After the robbery call came in, officers arriving at Dairy Mart had seen a Mercedes that matched the description. Police stopped the car and the passenger in the vehicle was Masters, who fit the description of the robbery suspect. Evidence collected from the car and a nearby residence also linked Masters to the crime, police said.
Masters was taken to the Madison County jail.
