PARIS — The Paris City Commission unanimously approved Tuesday the hiring of a former Lexington assistant police chief to lead the city's police department.
Kevin Sutton will replace Police Chief Tim Gray, who retired in October.
Sutton, who was hired by Lexington police in 1978, was assistant chief there from 2005 until he retired last year. He served under former Lexington police Chief Anthany Beatty and current Chief Ronnie Bastin.
After Tuesday's vote, Sutton thanked the commission for the opportunity. Sutton, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and the FBI National Academy, was sworn in during a ceremony after the commission's meeting.
