A 28-year-old man, who failed to appear Feb. 16 at a Fayette Circuit Court hearing pertaining to assault and burglary charges against him, was arrested Monday by agents of the U.S. Marshals office in Knoxville, according to Lexington police.
David Arthur Erwin had been out of jail on bond, but had been required to wear an electronic monitoring device. Lexington police Lt. Doug Pape said Erwin cut the device from his leg.
Pape said he did not have details about Erwin's arrest. Warrants had been issued against Erwin for violating a condition of release. Pape said extradition proceedings have begun.
Erwin was charged in May 2009 with breaking into a house at 223 Forest Park Road and allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Ashley J. Sullivan, and her boyfriend, Joseph W. Sachs, multiple times. The injuries were not life-threatening.
