Richmond police have charged two men in connection with the April 3 vandalism of headstones and grave markers in the Richmond Cemetery.
Joseph Dewayne Combs, 25, and William Damien Gross, 19, both of Richmond, were charged with second-degree criminal trespass and violating graves, a felony punishable by one to five year in prison.
Police also have obtained an arrest warrant for Sara Elizabeth Smart, 20, of Waco.
Investigators arrested Combs Friday, after developing evidence that three people were involved. Combs was interviewed Friday at the Richmond police station, a news release said. Gross was arrested Monday. Smart had not been arrested as of Tuesday evening.
The two men were in the Madison County jail Tuesday in lieu of $2,500 cash bond for each.
Some 150 headstones and markers, some of them dating to the Civil War era, were overturned and damaged. The estimated damage was about $31,000, Richmond police said.
