Lexington police have arrested a man they say brandished a hammer while robbing a Subway on Tuesday night.
Corey Charles Gray, 32, of Lexington, was charged with first-degree robbery Thursday evening, Lexington police Lt. Doug Pape said.
Investigators say Gray ordered a sandwich at the Subway at 409 Waller Avenue Tuesday night then pulled a hammer from his computer bag and demanded money from the cashier. The Subway employee complied, and the man fled with $275.07, according to police reports. He also took the sandwich.
Detectives went to Gray's address and saw he resembled the suspect seem in the surveillance video, and the Subway employee later identified Gray in a lineup as the man who robbed the restaurant, according to court documents.
Gray was being held at the Fayette County jail on a $10,000 full cash bond.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 25 in Fayette District Court.
